Javasche Bank yang kini telah beralih menjadi Bank Indonesia, merupakan kantor cabang De Javasche Bank N.V pertama diseluruh Hindia Belanda yang pertama kali dibuka pada tanggal 1 Maret 1829. Berlokasi di Jl. Letjen Suprapto, Gedung ini dibangun atas dasar pertimbangan Kota Semarang sebagai kota besar yang memiliki pelabuhan besar di Jawa dianggap memiliki prospek Perekonomian dan Perdagangan yang strategis. Pasca kemerdekaan Republik Indonesia, pada tanggal 30 Juni 1958 DJB dinasionalisasi menjadi Bank Indonesia.
